When we are fully present with one another and actively cultivating Maitri (loving-kindness), and Karuna (compassion), we are in a state of mind called Loving Presence. Ron Kurtz, the founder of the Hakomi method, stated that this state of mind is “without doubt the single most important factor” in the success of a therapeutic relationship. Further, it is a way of being open-hearted to one another in any relationship that simply feels nourishing and refreshing and leaves one feeling heard and understood.
Another way to think about Loving Presence is to be intentional about holding a view of being loving to one another, along with an active practice of appreciating the person to whom you are giving your full attention. The nourishment it provides both persons in the relationship allows for an unfolding into the experience of the unknown with enhanced care and capacity.
What to expect
This full-day experiential online workshop will consist of short presentations, along with relational exercises designed to help participants explore new ways to interact with others without the entangling habits of the conditioned mind and heart. The workshop is appropriate for anyone wishing to deepen their practice of self-study utilizing the Hakomi method.
